Jason N. Papas, M.D.
Board-Certified Ophthalmologist, Cornea and External Disease Specialist
Dr. Papas is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained Cornea and External Disease specialist. A Northeast Ohio native, he grew up in nearby Wadsworth, OH. Dr. Papas earned his Bachelor’s degree in two years from the University of Akron, where he graduated summa cum laude. He then earned his medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University, after which he completed his internship in internal medicine at Summa Health System in Akron. He then migrated south to Richmond, VA, where he completed his ophthalmology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. After residency, he was awarded a fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he underwent rigorous training for corneal transplantation, complex anterior segment surgery, and ocular surface reconstruction.
As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, Dr. Papas takes special interest in cataract surgery, both routine and complex. Focusing on the cornea, Dr. Papas has expertise in the medical and surgical treatment of many corneal conditions, including keratoconus, pterygium, corneal dystrophies (including Fuchs’ dystrophy), and performs the full gamut of corneal transplantation (PKP, DALK, DSEK, DMEK).
Dr. Papas resides in Jackson Township with his wife and two children.
